About Us

At MGA Tennis, we teach key fundamentals of stroke execution while retaining your style to perfect your tennis. This approach allows us to avoid over-coaching and result in greater clarity and learning in the student.

The MGA methodology encompasses three key concepts: Meta-coaching, Game-based Approach, and Tennis Analytics. Depending on your level of play, one or more of these concepts may feature more prominently during your coaching.

Meta-Coaching

Competing in tennis is very much psychological as much as it is physical, technical and tactical. Depending on the level of competition and relative playing level between the players, it could be more psychological than the other factors. In every tennis match, each player faces two opponents. The first is the player himself/herself, and the second  the other player on the opposite side of the net. Without winning the first battle, winning the second battle is extremely difficult.  Beyond tennis coaching in the four fundamental facets, the MGA Methodology incorporates Meta-coaching to help players utilise psychological levers to attain progression in their tennis development. One of the ways we do this is through our Tennis Match Playbook. Whether win or lose, players should feel fulfilment and satisfaction at the end of a match, and this starts with identifying clear outcome goals and relating it to process goals that are within the athlete’s control.

Game-based Approach

Ultimately, we are learning to play the beautiful game of tennis. This is why our programs from beginners to advanced level will be game-based, with a focus on key mechanics to develop shot quality that is necessary to gain an edge in playing the game. From the beginner stage, every new shot you learn will be related to game scenarios to help students understand the dynamics of a tennis match fundamentally. Game-based lessons will allow participants to have much more fun throughout the session and better appreciate the realistic dynamics of a tennis match.

Analytics

Technological advancements presents new opportunities to gain an edge over your opponents by learning the strengths and gaps of your own game and the tendencies of your opponents. Our analytics are focused in two areas: Match Analysis and Technique Analysis. Match analysis allows us to determine the key strengths and gaps in your tactical game, and narrow down the specific areas to focus on that will make difference. For e.g. a player may be losing points specifically on ad-court, backhand return. By providing insights at this level of detail, players can practice more intently to improve their game. Technique analysis will provide a clear and accurate diagnosis to your technical limitations, and possible injury causes. Using a progressive series of corrective actions, we can accurately target the movements to correct and help re-write old muscle memory to achieve new breakthroughs.
